Since my coverage of Friday’s Georgia lacrosse action drew a favorable response, I figured I’d cap off a solid day of sports coverage by providing you with a wrapup of Sunday afternoon’s 13-3 road win over Kennesaw State.
The Bulldog men brought great intensity to their bruising showdown with the Owls, building up an early 4-1 advantage that had been extended to 6-2 by halftime. Attacker Michael Trainer topped all Georgia scorers with four goals by the break, after which the Bulldogs went to their bench, getting second-half goals from midfielder Jeff Campbell, midfielder Evan Hamrick, attacker Brian Jungles, midfielder Andrew Quigley, and midfielder George Walker. Goalie Conor Busby, meanwhile, registered several saves.
Next up for the Red and Black men’s lacrosse team will be a Friday night clash with Auburn at Lassiter High School.
Go ‘Dawgs!

Alright!
A win against Auburn would make the team 2-0 in SELC play (I think). The LAX Dawgs seem to have a squad this year.

Belated thanks, Kyle
I meant to piggyback on some of the comments from your lacrosse coverage over the weekend, but life intervened. I played at Georgia (midi, attack) in the early-mid 1990s and am glad to see the sport getting coverage here. We’ve always had strong teams and have won several conference titles. During my time, we played out of conference games with Texas, West Virginia and NC State (I think).
You might be surprised to hear the sport has a long history at Georgia, going back prior to the Great Depression. Some history (including photos of mid-70s teams) here: http://ugalacrossealumni.com/history/the-first-two-years.
Thanks again for the coverage. As someone who lives out of region, I can tell you UGA lax coverage is a bit hard to come by.
