Georgia Bulldogs v. Kentucky Wildcats Basketball Game Night Open Comment Thread

Kentucky Wildcats at Georgia Bulldogs, Jan 24, 2012 9:00 PM EST

Mark Fox's Georgia Bulldogs, fresh from an embarrassing loss to Ole Miss, host the Kentucky Wildcats, the consensus No. 1 team in the country, at 9:00 p.m. Eastern this evening in a men's basketball game being televised by ESPN. Yeah, that will end well, won't it?

Then again, I thought that last year, too, and it worked out all right in the end, so dive into the comment thread and cheer on the Hoop Hounds! Preferably, we'll be discussing a win; failing that, at least the gaggle of "Star Trek: The Next Generation" fans who call Dawg Sports home will be able to discuss the fact that Ensign Robin Lefler was played by Ashley Judd, who reportedly smells like wildflowers.

Go 'Dawgs!

How is Kentucky only a 12 point favorite tonight?
They're only bringing 4 players.
In that case, start all of our walk-ons and pick a fight at the beginning of the game

W!

Four players?

Are they coached by Gene Hackman?

For the record, A Sea of Blue’s forthright yet fair assessment of tonight’s game appears here. Short version: It ain’t looking good for the home team.

Hey guys,

has anyone else noticed Djurisic looks like Tim Tebow?

This is not a productive topic of discussion.

At least, not if you want us to become basketball fans.

Anyone watching this?

At the moment we’re playing way above our heads.

I'm watching it, . . .

. . . and it’s too bad tankertoad isn’t, because the crowd showed up loudly and proudly.

They only do it for the Kentucky game, and I would guess it's about 60/40 split in fans

though someone at the game told me it’s more like 50/50. It’s a nice atmosphere and looks good for TV, but the reality is not what it seems

I'm sure you're right about the Kentucky fans packing the house, . . .

. . . but the crowd got into it when the Bulldogs made a run.

In any case, the instantaneous ill-informed roundball wrapup has been posted. Hopefully, the fact that it was more instantaneous than usual does not mean it is also more ill-informed than normal.

Was at lodge. Everything is on Tuesday - drives me nuts.
Told him for UK and UF, we'll sell seats

otherwise, no.

Just wondering if we actually believe

that offensive rebounds are legal in this game. We have no-one under the basket on most of our shots and our 3 point shots are horrendous.

in other words, a typical 2011-12 Georgia Basketball game
