Just a general open thread for Sunday Funday talk. Topics to discuss if you're feeling verklempt:
RIP Joe Pa
An Idiot Abroad started season 2 last night.
Ravens/Patriots in a good game for the Super Bowl (Dannell Ellerbe is on Baltimore)
49ers/Giants on later this evening. (Demarcus Dobbs is on the 49ers and Danny Ware on the Giants)
We've got a bad basketball team, who probably gets demolished by Kentucky Tuesday, but baseball is less than a month away. And the girls hoops team is currently dominating Ole Miss.

Not a fan of Flacco. I can see Baltimoire getting in on the Peyton sweepstakes.
Mr. Sanchez - January 22, 2012
After much consideration
I’ve decided that this has not been the best weekend for Georgia. The Commings arrest and our basketball team not showing up – in a winnable SEC game AT HOME, no less. The whole tragedy that has become the Joe Paterno story, and Liverpool playing like crap.
But you’re correct. Not a bad playoff game so far.
DavetheDawg - January 22, 2012
Man U won.
tankertoad - January 22, 2012
And Liverpool lost.
vineyarddawg - January 22, 2012
Grrrrr....
DavetheDawg - January 22, 2012
Table toffee boy. Table.
Mr. Sanchez - January 22, 2012
I could go for a nice bowl of table toffee.
Seriously, I have no idea what you people are talking about, but I’ll never forgive any of you for getting tankertoad to come out of the closet as a soccer fan; that revelation has completely destroyed my image of the man and caused me to wonder whether a McCarthyite purge of the U.S. military is in order.
T Kyle King - January 22, 2012
He's not a soccer fan...
just trolling those of us who are. ;)
Mr. Sanchez - January 22, 2012
that's, uh, mostly true. )
I would love to go to the Man U arena – it’s a hellava complex and always packed. But I won’t exactly lose sleep over anything in the EPL.
tankertoad - January 22, 2012
Another reason it was a bad day...
damn bandwagon fans.
Mr. Sanchez - January 22, 2012
This pretty accurately sums up my Sunday
RedCrake - January 22, 2012
Yikes.

vineyarddawg - January 22, 2012
Never trust an Italian
RedCrake - January 22, 2012
On this, we can all agree.
Well, except this Italian:

vineyarddawg - January 22, 2012
Looks like an accident, kind of, as he was trying to catch his balance
Mr. Sanchez - January 22, 2012
Professional soccer players don't make those kinds of accidents.
At that level of competition, you have enough control over your body to avoid kicking your foot back in the face of a man you know is lying behind you on the ground.
vineyarddawg - January 22, 2012
I watched the Man U with my lady friend today and she was laughing at the players laying on the ground.
Kyle would have loved it – she said “In real football we get up, rub some dirt on it and keep going” – lol.
tankertoad - January 22, 2012
Yeah, that's the most maddening thing about soccer.
Easily the worst part of the game. I’m just glad the Americans rarely do it. (And I yell at them just as much when they do as I yell at other teams.)
vineyarddawg - January 22, 2012
It got kind of silly at the end of the Man U game to be honest. For both teams.
tankertoad - January 22, 2012
And Dempsey got a hat trick this weekend!
Yeah for my EPL fantasy team.
Mr. Sanchez - January 23, 2012
And y'all have one of the worst
with Nani. I don’t particularly care for your left back either.
Mr. Sanchez - January 23, 2012
To be honest, historically it is the Mediterranean and Latin countries that have been the worst at diving.
And I’m including Portugal as a “Mediterranean country,” which is Nani’s home.
vineyarddawg - January 23, 2012
I'm at a loss for words on that loss to Bolton
so much promise with this team, and so much fail.

Mr. Sanchez - January 22, 2012
This man needs a drink.
DavetheDawg - January 22, 2012
Yes I do...
oh, you mean him too. Just make sure #9 isn’t at the bar with him, and sounds like a plan. And I love it when a plan comes together.
This is now the official anti-Kyle thread.
Mr. Sanchez - January 22, 2012
Anti-Kyle thread?
Yay Soccer! And things from the north!
Did I ever talk about how much awesome stuff there is to see and do in NYC?
vineyarddawg - January 22, 2012
NEW YORK CITY?!
Mr. Sanchez - January 22, 2012
Captain Kirk thinks you're all . . .
. . . a bunch of damned dirty communists.
I’m going to get podunkdawg to ban every last one of you!
T Kyle King - January 22, 2012
Goes to see if I have the power to ban Kyle
and he does! This could be a soccer blog soon.
Mr. Sanchez - January 22, 2012
Next time he writes a 9k word post, I plan to change his name to mine.
tankertoad - January 22, 2012
Just make sure to misspell some words when you do...
to make it believable.
Mr. Sanchez - January 22, 2012
All right, now that was funny!
Not “hailtogeorgia explaining why no one on the staff could pass a drug test” funny, but funny, nevertheless!
T Kyle King - January 22, 2012
Well played good Sir.
tankertoad - January 22, 2012
don't make me
get nasty………
/knows how.
podunkdawg - January 24, 2012
So, say we all ban each other in a fit of anger...
just leave the lunatics to run the asylum?
Mr. Sanchez - January 24, 2012
What an interception
by some dude who plays for the Ravens.
DavetheDawg - January 22, 2012
Yay!
At last, a comment that doesn’t make me want to renounce my citizenship! Thanks, Dave! I knew I could count on you!
T Kyle King - January 22, 2012
Ugh.
kickers…
DavetheDawg - January 22, 2012
At least Walsh will get a chance in someone's camp
and if he’s over the yips, he’ll make a roster. Carolina should try to land him. Same with Atlanta.
Mr. Sanchez - January 22, 2012
With John Kasay gone from the Panthers, . . .
. . . they should sign Blair Walsh, just to get back in Bulldog Nation’s good graces.
T Kyle King - January 22, 2012
Vernon Davis is good
Mr. Sanchez - January 22, 2012
And Mike Singletary was wrong.
Mr. Sanchez - January 22, 2012
Ah, the good old invalid fair catch penalty. Been a while for that one.
tankertoad - January 22, 2012
Fox needs more guys at their round table. Geez.
tankertoad - January 22, 2012
BOY AH TELL YA WHAT TANKERTOAD THAT'S RIGHT ON!!
(Everybody laughs and everybody talks over each other until commercial break.)
vineyarddawg - January 22, 2012
exactly.
tankertoad - January 22, 2012
I got to get a DVR. All the shows I watch come on sunday night, and Luck on HBO is going to be on Sunday night.
I don’t know if Luck will be good, but it looks to be good and it’s Michael Mann, and I like all things Michael Mann.
tankertoad - January 22, 2012
An Idiot Abroad started last night
and it was great as always.
Mr. Sanchez - January 22, 2012
Haven't watched that.
tankertoad - January 22, 2012
Comes on the Science Channel
HIGHLY recommend.
Mr. Sanchez - January 22, 2012
Just checked netflix - of course it's disk only. I am so ready for all media to go streaming.
tankertoad - January 22, 2012
If you have OnDemand, it might be available through that...
and new episodes are coming on the Science Channel on Saturdays, with reruns throughout the week. Karl Pilkington is great.
Mr. Sanchez - January 23, 2012
Eli Manning managed to incomplete to two 49ers. wow.
tankertoad - January 22, 2012
a little premature on that comment, didnt realize there maybe someone bad hurt.
tankertoad - January 22, 2012
Teh twitterz is blowing up...
… because it looks like Chip Kelly is about to leave Oregon for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
vineyarddawg - January 22, 2012
If that comes to pass, . . .
. . . I hope Oregon hires Jon Gruden to replace him, because that would be nicely symmetrical. Plus, it would spare us from having Jon Gruden’s name mentioned for every future head coaching vacancy, college or pro, from now until the end of time.
T Kyle King - January 22, 2012
THIS GUY knows how to coach some FOOTBALL, Kyle.
(As opposed to all the other rugby and cricket coaches a university would be looking to hire for their football team.)
vineyarddawg - January 22, 2012
plus, as a Falcons fan
I’m thinking it’ll be a horrible hire by a division rival.
Mr. Sanchez - January 22, 2012
They should hire Mike Bobo.
tankertoad - January 22, 2012
I immediately stole this and put it on twitter.
I do not apologize for the plagarism.
vineyarddawg - January 22, 2012
I dont understand how to use twitter anyhow.
But – there is some truth to it – Mike Bobo likes to throw the ball. He would have a wide open passing game against weak PAC 12 Ds. It’s a good fit. And it gets him about as far away from Athens as possible.
tankertoad - January 22, 2012
But once he realized heaving 1st and Bombs would work in the PAC 12
He would immediately commit himself to running dives on every down.
RedCrake - January 22, 2012
Wait - I got a better idea. If A&M fans will actually believe CMR was in College Station -
can we start a rumor Mike Bobo is going to Oregon? That would be so much fun.
tankertoad - January 22, 2012
Rec'd
Mr. Sanchez - January 22, 2012
Every single comment on this thread is by the staff - Way to bring um in guys!
tankertoad - January 22, 2012
We gotta pump up the comment numbers somehow.
Besides, recently we only seem to be good at bringing in Alabama trolls, so be careful what you wish for. :-)
vineyarddawg - January 22, 2012
If it wasnt for the fact (a good one) that Kyle wants accurate news posted -
I would front page “Oregon looks to hire Coach Bobo” right now and tweet it and FB it. I want to make it like the craig james thing.
As far as Alabama trolls, I am still baffled by some of that. “I believe you should win the SEC” “No you don’t believe that” “Um, yea, I really do and stuff” “You would feel differently if you won an NC” “No, i wouldnt.” “yes you would” begeezus.
tankertoad - January 22, 2012
This is a violent football game.
tankertoad - January 22, 2012
Rule #1 in OT football, don't fumble.
tankertoad - January 22, 2012
Unless you are UGA and get a TO and then take a knee to kick a FG.....(yea, still mad, that wont change).
tankertoad - January 22, 2012
LOL - the Giants kicker's mouth could be clearly read. LOL.
